Kisspeptin-10 is a synthetic decapeptide derived from the naturally occurring kisspeptin hormone encoded by the KISS1 gene. It represents the active C-terminal fragment (residues 112-121) of the longer kisspeptin-54 peptide and is responsible for initiating reproductive hormone signaling within the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis.
In males, this cascade supports testosterone production and spermatogenesis. In females, it regulates ovulation, estrogen production, and menstrual cyclicity.
